The mountain is the ancestral soul of Calabria, the last offshoot of the Southern Apennines, a true “finis terrae” of the European continent. A mountain that constantly dialogues with the sea and that, unique in Italy, groups three National Parks: Pollino, Sila and Aspromonte. The Sila Biosphere Reserve has included since 2014 the Sila National Park within the scientific program “Man and the Biosphere – MAB”, an intergovernmental scientific program launched by UNESCO in 1971 to promote a balanced relationship between man and the environment on a scientific basis through the protection of biodiversity and good practices of Sustainable Development. Calabria is a popular destination for tourists looking for a healthy relationship with nature.
